NES Emulator, from a guy who posted a comment on GirlGeeks (I can't spell his username, though I've heard of the film from which it is taken), linked here just so I can find it again later:
http://web.utanet.at/nkehrer/ONE_Play.htmlWill have to ask my brother where he gets his emulators, because this one is much more limited than some of the stuff he's found.
Managed to get the kitchen, living room, and bathroom cleaned today (Thurs); did laundry the last couple of days; still have a lot to do on the video editing, and I promised them they'd have it by Christmas...got to get cracking!
Dad came home tonight. He was supposed to be on the flight from Atlanta at 6:15, but that flight was delayed and landed about 6:40, and then he wasn't even on it! You know how ridiculous you feel wandering around the terminal looking for someone who isn't there? And when we got back home, he'd left a collect message (man, $4.50 for one message? Yikes! REALLY wish he and mom would get cellphones) with the new flight number and arrival time: 10 pm. Not a lot of fun, all that running around.
On top of that, mom's computer went berserk. Somehow, AOL tricked her into downloading and installing the new version, and then it ruined her internet connection. It disabled her cable modem link, and messed up her web browsers. She couldn't get it to restore the connections, and ended up backing stuff up and reinstalling the whole opsys - not fun. As a result, she was rather cranky tonight (she's mad enough she's talking about cancelling AOL altogether and finding something else) and dad wanted to know, "has she been like this all week?"
Well, hmmm, let me think. The computer and airport issues were today, not all week, so no, it hasn't been all week. Snotty question. Though he did bring me a nice stack of LA apartment guides and a wonderful page from today (Thursday's) USAToday with an article about PJ on the front of it.
My cat is being stinky. Literally. On my lap. Maybe the canned cat food isn't such a good idea for her. On the other hand, she's got dental problems, and the dry food is hard for her to eat. Problems, problems. Now she's licking my elbow; geriatric felines are
strange.
Anyway, my computer isn't accepting the RAM I got mom to buy for it *this* time either (the PC133 works fine in her computer...evidently not as much newer as I thought) and I *know* it's the same type as what came in the system in the first place (PC100). SO, I'm thinking it's a hardware problem. Thing is, it came with a System Recovery CD, not a full install CD, so if I change any significant portion of the hardware, I won't be able to reinstall the software. It's lasted me almost 4 years with minimal maintenance and no reinstallations, so I'm thinking I'll back up all my important stuff and do a SysRestore, then see about changing out the motherboard and processor. If that'll work, great. If I still can't get it to work, I may have to see if I can find a full version of Win98SE for sale somewhere and build my own machine (half tempted to see about using a single piece of metal, bent into an "L" as a "case" - plenty of air circulation that way;) I know I don't want ME, or 2000, and I certainly have no desire to get another copy of XP; not happy with it on the other comp, and I have several progs that won't run on XP. Have put several items on my eBay watchlist;)
The brother had an interview today; didn't sound promising. His car seems to be having the same problem my old car used to have, though - his battery drained the other day, and he couldn't figure out why. Then he discovered that the brake lights were coming on when he wasn't even in the car. My old car did this; it's a brake sensor problem. For me, it was really strange, because at the time, I was working 3rd shift security. When you're alone in the middle of the night, and suddenly you see your car's brake lights come on, it seems a bit freaky! Anyway, he's put out because he thinks that there shouldn't be power to the brakelights if the key isn't in the ignition.
BUT, he got to go see ROTK Wed night. I'm jealous. I freely admit, I'm jealous of everyone who's already seen it, and I'm *very* jealous of everyone who got to go to the Gathering and meet up with each other. I really wish I could have gone. (Oh, and Pastor commented Wed night that he drove through the theater parking lot to get to his favorite restaurant, and the place was packed...he couldn't imagine *why* so many people would be there on a Wednesday, of all days- Mom just looked at me; we knew)
On a more positive note, I've been peppering LA with applications, mostly by fax, and one of the ones I sent out today I *really* hope I get. Assisting a Director of Marketing in a film company whose mission statement is remarkably similar to mine! Oh, those of you who pray, pray for me on this!
