It's bad enough that the MPAA thinks that suing search engines is the way to end piracy (do book publishers sue libraries for making it possible for people to photocopy books?) - one must face the apparent fact that the MPAA hasn't learned as much as I'd hoped from the debacle the RIAA managed to cause.

Still, the news that at least one of these BitTorrent search sites is fighting back makes me laugh with glee. We can only hope that the courts manage to find their common sense.
I'm feeling better now, though I still have some residual sinus trouble, but finally back up to "Oh, hey, I can get up and do stuff again." Good thing, too, because the kitchen was starting to look like a disaster;) I apologized for not getting to the dishes before I left for the wedding, and Dad said, "That's okay, I know how to wash dishes." He may, but they were still dirty when I got back!

Mel, I've got a few pics from your wedding here. I'd've taken more, but I wasn't sure the camera was working. I'm really not so much a journalistic photographer anyway. I tend to be an artistic photographer, and I prefer inanimate objects, like dresses or flowers or something.
I'm not sure what I think of this, yet. There's a certain amount of, "well, maybe if it's entertaining," but then I remember that TV and radio ads often fail to be entertaining even when they're trying to be. I understand that entertainment has to be supported somehow, but live shows typically have tickets that really ought to cover the cost of the show. If I had any faith that it wouldn't be abused and turn into "ad shows with a little bit of entertainment," I'd be more interested in this new trend.
Craig Det-weiler, chair of the Film, Television & Radio program at Biola says, "Hollywood has rediscovered the sweet spot of the marketplace between Los Angeles and New York.

I'm thinking this is a bit overly optimistic. Not everything that gets labeled "Christian" actually appeals to Christians, and there's such a wide variety of denominations that invariably, someone is going to find something wrong with your script. On the whole, Hollywood has typically gotten Bible stories all wrong, which is why Mel Gibson's "Passion" was so stunning. It was the Catholic view, so it didn't fully coincide with my own (anabaptist) views, but the essentials were there, and it was done with respect so rarely seen in theatrical movies.

I'm reserving judgment on NewLine's "Nativity" until I see how it comes out; I've seen way too many "Hollywood finally gets it! They're going to make movies for us average Christian folks now" announcements followed by thoroughly disappointing (and sometimes insulting) productions. I'm sure those of you of other religions have seen the same thing, with your religion being mishandled in Hollywood's hands, too.
