For some reason I can't figure out, the RSS feed syndication on LJ broke when I updated to MySQL5. I don't know why, but I'm playing with settings to try to fix it without resorting to going back to MySQL4. I really don't want to bother with going backwards if I can help it. I'll crosspost this on LJ today so the feed subscribers can see why I disappeared...

I'm not sure LJ has anything to do with it; it worked fine before I updated WordPress, so it's probably a WordPress problem. LJ will probably just tell me that I need to fix it on my end :(

The URL hasn't changed, so it's set right on LJ's side. Unfortunately, what I did yesterday doesn't seem to have fixed it, so I'm going to have to see if the WP forums have any helpful info on it. My host is trying to get everyone to upgrade to MySQL5, because support for version 4 is being phased out, so I really don't want to backtrack. Maybe the old database is confusing things; I'll delete it and see if that has any effect.

Okay, my attempts haven't worked. I've put in a support request; we'll see what more experienced LJ people have to say. Since I didn't actually change any WP code, I'm not sure it's WP that's at fault. I'm leaning toward "LJ's system fixated on a specific IP/subnet and isn't paying attention to the URL itself anymore" until someone corrects me. I may be wrong; I don't really get into the deepest technical details of the IP addressing systems.
